I can help you or your student score higher on standardized exams!

ACT test score from 02/12/2005:
33

update 06/21/2005
I am willing to tutor in areas other than standardized tests.  Call or e-mail and we can discuss mutual opportunities.

update 02/25/2005

I will send you a scanned copy of my ACT score report if you request it.  I will also carry around a copy with me to show to clients.  The ACT can be cracked.  I scored a 34 on the English section and did very well on the entire test.  I probably won't take another ACT for a while, but if I can find steady clients I'll definitely take it again.  I know I can score a perfect on one of the sections and maybe even score a composite 36.  Give me a call, I can help you!

update 02/12/2005

I took the ACT exam today.  My feeling is that I did well.  I know I did not ace every section but few people do.  I studied for the English and Math exams most thoroughly, yet probably did better on the Reading and Science Reasoning sections.  I would be shocked at a composite score of under 30 and I'm hoping for 31 or 32.

I recommend calling or e-mailing if you have questions.  I truly believe that I can fill a need for many students (and parents of below college age students).  If you are my client, I will be very serious about helping you prepare for a standardized exam.  I've said it before, and other people have said it: they can be cracked.

update 02/08/2005

The next two ACT test dates (after February 12) are April 9 and June 11.  This is a great opportunity for you to take some sessions from me and maximize your score when you take the test.  I've been preparing for the test on February 12 and have taken about 10 practice tests.  I know what the test writers are testing students on and I can help prepare a student to do very well.

I've done some calling around and discovered that my fee is half of what you will be charged elsewhere in Omaha.  Half - and you can find even more expensive options.  Ten sessions with me and you'll be much better prepared.  Or just take five sessions, or even two.  Don't rely on "reviews" from High School teachers or take out a loan just to be better prepared for the ACT.  I will be your own private coach and help you develop a strategy to score well on the ACT.  It's quite possible to crack the test with some hard work and the right help.  Give me a call soon, I am going to raise my rates to $20 per hour (or possibly $25) if I have more clients than I can handle.

Thank you for visiting my site!

I am available for standardized test tutoring.  If you want assistance with learning how to crack the ACT, SAT, PSAT, GRE, GMAT, or LSAT [all tests trademark of respective companies, I am not affiliated with these companies in any way] please read further.

Standardized tests are hurdles that students aspiring to higher education must face.  I've taken many tests over the course of my career in college, and I've become very adept at taking tests.  Students can learn how to do better on standardized exams.  Below average students can earn average scores.  Average students can earn above average scores.  Good students can earn great scores and excellent students can score in the 99th percentile with some hard work and the right advice.

I earned a Business degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a Master of Arts degree from the Economics program at The University of Iowa.  I was also a teaching assistant at Iowa and I have an interest in teaching adults.  I can arrange a course of study tailored to the needs of each student.  Some people need one on one instruction and everyone can benefit from having a tutor to guide them.

Consider the alternatives.  The Yellow Pages?  They will be happy to help you at established tutoring services, but the tuition is high.  Reviews at the local High School?  Cheap, but probably not very effective.

I will give you individual attention for what I feel is a quite reasonable rate of $15 per hour.  Additionally, the first session will last about two hours and sessions thereafter will last about an hour.  If you want one session, ten sessions, anything in between, or ongoing sessions, that is fine.  I need to build up a client base and a library of instruction materials, hence the low hourly rate.

Q&A

Where do you offer these tutoring services?
You will have the benefit of me arriving at your home at a mutally convenient time.  Otherwise, an agreed upon place (such as the library) is where I will set up the sessions.

Do you offer tutoring for my student's regular subjects?
I can, however, I would like to focus on tutoring for standardized exams.  My specialties include the tests I have actually taken, the ACT and the GRE [respectively trademarked].  Because I am such a good test taker and enjoy learning and teaching so much, I am willing to teach just about any standardized exam.  You can always call to find out my availability, ability, and willingness to tutor in regular school subjects.

Do you tutor students of all ages?
Probably not.  I will tutor mostly High School students and students about to graduate from college (taking standardized exams for graduate school consideration).  Parents who want their students to do well on standardized tests administered to their grade school or junior high aged children should give me a call and we can discuss it.  I can only accept payment from adults.

What qualifies you to teach standardized exams?
I am not aware of any certification or requirements for tutoring or teaching standardized exams.  I want to build a list of referrals, hence the low fee.  You may call UNOmaha [(402) 554-2800] or The University of Iowa [switchboard: (319) 335-3500; Economics Department: (319) 335-0829] to verify that I received degrees from their programs.  I also plan to take the ACT [respectively trademarked] on February 12, 2005, and I will publish my score here.
